Seasonal redistribution experiment
NOTE: Shelter dimensions are actually 6.5 x 5.5 x 2.2.
Winter and summer precipitation were manipulated for 2 years with winter subplots (3 x 2 m) nested in summer plots (6.5 x 5.5 m).
Snow was shoveled from one subplot (-100% snow) to another subplot (+100 snow). Shelters removed 50% of throughfall in the forest from dry plots. Wet plots received +50% of precipitation in a month (manually watered approximately every 2 weeks).
